Did you know being happy is a state of mind which comes from within. No amount of stuff or money is going to bring long term happiness. This is why the thrill of an impromptu purchase is short lived and it’s not long before the high wears off. Living simple and frugally doesn’t mean life is cheap and miserable. On the contrary, it can lead to feeling much lighter and happier. So I’ve collated 20 happiness tips that will help put you on a frugal fast track to feeling happier in yourself on a daily basis.
And guess what…Non of it involves spending money.
1. Don’t Start With Profundities
Don’t try to run before you can walk, set yourself easily achievable things to make you happy such as escaping in a good book, a long hot bath, a glass of something nice, or even start your own blog.
2. Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Anger
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Breathe and try to put your attention onto something more important. Take it out on the housework, the laundry, go for a run, take deep breaths.
3. Don’t Take Rejection Personally
Use rejection as a learning opportunity to focus on strengths and weaknesses. If acceptance and winning were a guarantee in life nobody would appreciate them when they do come. When one door closes very often another door opens so don’t try to force anything. Sometimes its just not meant to be but don’t let that make you unhappy about it.
4. Be Committed
“Long term consistency trumps short term intensity”. Bruce Lee said that and he was right you know.
So long as you keep taking small but consistent daily steps towards whatever your goal is you’ll get there. No need to put unnecessary pressure on yourself with unrealistic deadlines.
5. Write Out A Short List Of The Simple Things That Give You Pleasure
Indulge yourself with simple things you like to do which bring you pleasure throughout the week. It shouldn’t be all about work work work day in and day out.
6. Get Moving
Our bodies are designed for moving. Sometimes when you need an energy boost all it takes is a movement of some kind. Move your body in whatever way is the most comfortable for you.
Dance like nobody’s watching.
7. Talk Less And When You Do Have Noble Conversation
Knowing when to be quiet and observe rather than getting involved in other’s people’s drama brings a lot of peace and happiness and frees up your thoughts to have more quality conversations.
8. Practice Random Acts Of Kindness
Pay it forward with a random act of kindness. You never know how far out it’s ripple effect could reach. When you do something nice for somebody it increases the possibility of that person doing something nice for somebody else and so the effect travels out like a ripple in water.
9. Find Your Inner Optimist
Focus on gratitude and the things in your life that you are grateful for. A journal is a good way to record these things and gives you something to look back at especially when you are having a bad day.
10. Each Day Do Something Good For Yourself
Do something good for yourself everyday. It doesn’t have to be extravagant. Simple things such as taking a break, listening to your favourite music, cooking a home cooked meal. Anything that floats your boat.
My favourite thing to do is to spend an hour with a good book and a coffee and lose myself in the pages.

Don’t try to take them all on at once, focus on one a day or even one a week. The world is a little crazy right now and and it could really do with a big injection of happiness of kindness.
