Instant Pot Jam (3 Ingredients)

Imagine a lazy Sunday morning in bed reading, what could be better than Instant Pot homemade jam on toast and fresh coffee. You don’t have to go all Downton Abbey to appreciate a little luxury. There is something about homemade jam that outshines it’s shop bought relative and it is incredibly easy to make. Especially if you have an Instant Pot.

I love my Instant Pot. It’s one off the most used things in my kitchen. It’s really helped me get more creative in the kitchen.

With the Instant Pot you don’t have to stand over the pan stirring and it can made in no time at all with only three ingredients. I have to point out my homemade jam is fridge ready only and does not go through the canning process. It will need to be stored in the fridge in an airtight container. It should last for at least two weeks. It can also be frozen for up to a month. You can use this jam for yourself or why not make up a large batch and give some away to friends and family too.

You will need the following ingredients to make the plum jam.

  • ripe plums
  • sugar
  • lemon juice and water

First of all you will need to wash the fruit and then roughly chop and remove the stones. I have used plums for this jam as that is what I had left over from my Fruit and Veg box. You could also use strawberries, apricots, mixed berries, persimmon Fruit, cherries etc. I tend to use up fruits that are just past their best. It is a brilliant way to use up old fruit. That way it doesn’t get wasted and you get an extra use out something that might otherwise have been thrown away.

Then add the chopped fruit and sugar to the Instant pot and mix together with a spoon.

Close the lid on the Instant Pot, set to sealing and pressure cook on manual for 15 minutes followed by a natural pressure please. Once it is ready, open the lid and mash the fruit with a potato masher.

Next select the sauté function and simmer the mixture for 10 minutes or so until the fruit puree starts to become a spreadable texture. The sugar and lemon juice helps the jam to thicken as you simmer it. Once it starts to become a spreadable texture, allow to cool down and then put into an air tight container and allow to cool completely before storing in the fridge. The mixture will thicken up further fully once cool.
